A Success Story 50 Years in the Making
Our story is 50 years in the making – in 1975 after serving in the military and unsure what to do next, Bill Lundquist happened to see a 60 minutes segment that changed the course of his life. The segment highlighted the top ten fields to get into in the United States over the next decade. High on that list – HVAC technician.
With a lifelong fascination with how things worked and a desire to forge his own path, Bill enrolled in trade school the next day. A year later he had his first job as a technician in San Diego performing maintenance on commercial HVAC Systems. From that very first job, Bill saw how poorly dirty HVAC systems performed.
Bill Brings His Idea to Colorado
In 1979 Bill moved to Frisco Colorado, and launched his first business. Over the next 10 years he worked for ski resorts, restaurants, and businesses of all types keeping their systems running smoothly, and coming to the rescue when things went sideways.
In the late 1980’s, the term “Indoor Air Quality” first started emerging. Before air duct cleaning was even an industry, Bill started thinking about all the dirt and contamination he had seen through the years originating in HVAC systems, and blowing through air ducts.
With an eye on the future, he recognized an untapped market and made a big bet. He sold his business in the mountains, moved to Boulder with his future wife and started Monster Vac – one of the first Air Duct Cleaning companies in the United States.
An Industry Pioneer
Over the next 30 years, Bill would build a resume worthy of a true industry pioneer including:
- Designed the first high-powered vacuum system for Duct Cleaning
- Founding member of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) – now over 1,500 members worldwide
- President of NADCA for 3 years (term limit)
- Chairman of the HVAC Cleaning and Restoration Standards Writing Committee for over 20 years – during this time, Bill’s committee published the ACR Standard which defines performance and procedural requirements for assessment, cleaning, and restoration of commercial HVAC systems throughout the country.
All while overseeing thousands of Commercial Projects at the helm of Monster Vac. In 2019, Bill sold Monster Vac and made a brief attempt at retirement. Ever the entrepreneur, he couldn’t get it out of his mind that things could be done differently – and better – in the commercial market.
A New Commercial HVAC Company
COLORADO COMMERCIAL HVAC MAINTENANCE INC. was launched by Bill and his two sons to offer not just Duct Cleaning, but full spectrum HVAC services to commercial buildings of all types. Today, our family run business is backed by his extensive experience, innovative approach, and commitment to providing building owners and managers with the highest level of service in the market.
